CCDA President Justin Radley and our team of casting professionals applies decades of experience to every project and tailors the casting approach to the specific needs of the job. With a deep knowledge of comedy, story, real people, editorial & beauty, and sports & lifestyle talent, J Hook Casting can fulfill all of your commercial casting needs.

We know we don’t get the gig unless you get the gig.

That’s why we want to help you get it. We offer bidding advice to help ensure we’ll find the best available talent for the job. Depending on union status, the product category, exclusivity, usage, and length of term, rates can vary widely. Not only can we advise you on talent rates, but we are also able to provide a comprehensive casting estimate to help you plug realistic numbers into your bid. If the numbers are coming in higher than you had hoped, then we can discuss different approaches to bring the overall budget for casting and talent into the realm of feasibility, ensuring your bid stays as competitive as it can be.

Innovations in casting.

In recent years we’ve seen major changes in both the process and the business model of commercial casting. The majority of casting studios in Los Angeles and New York have permanently shuttered, and the traditional method of in-person casting is only one of several options. Theatrical casting for TV and film has long used the method of self-taping, and auditioning people virtually is a tactic we have employed in real people casting for many years. It took the pandemic to bring all of these options to the forefront of commercial casting so suddenly, and there is no reason to limit the options now that the pandemic is over. Whether you want in-person casting, virtual casting, or self-taped auditions, each method has its own set of pros and cons, and depending on your casting needs, creative preferences, and budget, we will offer our recommendations for executing a smooth and seamless casting process.

Bridging the old and the new.

We know the history of commercial casting, but we’re always looking forward. We understand how to navigate the fast-changing environment of commercial casting to deliver the most creative, cost-effective approach to any of your projects. If we don’t, we’ll admit it. But we’ll still give you our best advice and hope to cross paths again one day.
